With industries such as construction and landscaping, a lot of waste can be produced. All waste can be placed in a mixed building waste bin, there are options available to separate certain types of waste for recycling. One option is to separate bricks and concrete from the mixed building waste.
When disposed of, bricks and concrete can be used to form aggregates and road base materials and be reused in construction and landscaping industries, reducing landfill. In fact, you can save more than the environment when you separate this type of material from other waste types.
As well as being able to dispose of bricks and concrete, you also use these bins to dispose of waste items similar to these materials. The items that you can dispose of are:
* If you’re looking to dispose of other types of building waste, you will need a mixed building waste bin.
At Matt’s Skip Bins, we pride ourselves on being as environmentally-friendly as we can. We aim to recycle as much waste as we can through our recycling station, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.
In particular, all suitable waste that is disposed of in our brick and concrete bins is sent to our recycling station to be turned into aggregates and road base materials that can be reused in construction, landscaping and road paving, reducing landfill and protecting the environment.
Only bricks, concrete and similar materials from building waste are allowed to be disposed in bricks and concrete bins. You will not be able to put other types of building waste, such as timber in them. If you’re looking to dispose of other types of building waste, we suggest ordering one of our mixed building waste bins.
Now that you’ve found the ideal type of bin for the job, you’ll need to find the ideal bin size. At Matt’s Skip Bins, we have a range of skip bin sizes that are designed to suit any size of job, from our small 2m3 skip bin, designed for small renovations, to our massive 10m3 skip bin, that is designed to suit massive construction sites. If you need a hand finding the right bin size, click below to find the right one for you.
Every job is different, but as a rough guide, one standard car trailer is around 1 cubic metre. If your rubbish is already sitting in a pile, a rough calculation to measure a cubic metre is the length of the pile x the width x the height = the cubic capacity. Check out our Skip Bin Size page for more information.
Each waste type is different. See our Waste Types page to make sure you select the correct waste type for your needs. There are a few items that we do not accept in any waste type such as food, liquid, asbestos (we do provide Asbestos-only bins), chemicals, oils, paints, fire extinguishers and gas bottles. There are a couple of items that we do accept but they incur an extra fee, including spring mattresses and tyres.
Bins may only be filled to the rim, in order for our drivers to safely cover and transport the bin.
Your skip bin may be placed on your property (usually on the grass or the driveway). If you require the bin to be placed on council land, you will need to obtain a permit from your local council before ordering the skip bin.
Our standard hire for general household clean up bins is 5 days and our standard hire for building waste bins is 14 days. However, we are aware that things don’t always go to plan. If you require the bin longer or finish with it sooner, please contact us before the scheduled pick up date so we can accommodate your needs. We are always happy to be flexible as long as you provide enough notice.
Wherever possible we can provide same day service, but it is best to give at least a day’s notice to be safe. However, if you require a skip bin by a certain time you are best to give 2 days’ notice (For example, if you need to start using your bin at 7am on a Wednesday morning, it’s best to call on a Monday so the we can have the bin delivered on the Tuesday, ready for use first thing Wednesday morning). To find out more, visit our Book a Bin page.
You may request a preferred time and our allocator will always try to accommodate your needs but, in our industry, it’s very difficult to book an exact time as workloads vary by the hour! To be safe, always book your bin for delivery on the day before you intend to start using it.
Please see our Terms and Conditions page.
