It’s sometimes tricky to find the right-sized skip bin. With multiple skip bin sizes available, how do you know which size will suit your waste predicament?
As one of the leading skip bin providers, we specialise in all things skip bins. This includes narrowing down the right size for your waste needs. We want to ensure you have the correct skip size so you can avoid overfilling your skip and stop having too much space left over.
To help you narrow down the right size for your skip bin hire, here are a few points to consider before booking your bin. Check out our helpful guide below.
Estimate the waste
The first thing you should do is estimate how much waste you want to throw away. This will give you a good indication of what waste type you need and what bin size you will require.
We suggest making a list and jotting down everything you want to throw away. Include both your oversized items and the smaller ones. Once you finished writing down every item you plan on throwing away, this will indicate the size of the waste you have and the space you will need.
For those who are organised and keen to start the cleaning, you could even create a pile before your skip arrives. This way, you can have a quick turnover with a short skip hire. It will also indicate the amount of rubbish you have and the bin size you’ll need.
Know your waste type
Knowing what you are throwing away will help you understand which waste type you need. If you’re throwing away building materials, you will require mixed building waste. For strictly green waste, you’ll need the green waste type bin and so on.
Matt’s Skip Bins has five waste types to choose from. You can explore our waste types here.
Understanding what waste types come in which sizes will also help you narrow down what size bin you will need. While most waste types come in all sizes, certain types are only available up to 9m. This is due to a weight restriction with the heaviest of materials.
For example, our dirt and clay bin and roof tiles bin are unavailable in a 10 cubic metre skip bin. If this is the waste type you are interested in, the biggest size you can order is the 9m bin. Therefore, you will need between a 2-9m container.
Explore our skip bin sizes
Another way to decide what skip bin size you need is to explore our range of sizes. Available to hire, we have seven bin sizes that make up standard skip bin sizes. This ranges across small, medium and large sizes.
To help you understand the different sizes, we have a detailed chart outlining the dimensions of each skip size. There is also information on each bin size page explaining the suitable situation for each size. This helps you narrow down the bin size you require.
Beyond our standard range, we also have a 12m skip bin. This exclusive bin size can only be ordered by contacting our team directly. With strict fill guidelines, it can only be used for special waste situations.
