Waste Types #2

When hiring a skip bin from Matt’s Skip Bins, it’s essential to understand what types of waste can and cannot be disposed of. We aim to make the process as simple as possible by providing clear guidelines for each waste category. Our goal is to ensure responsible waste management while also safeguarding the environment.

To assist with this, we’ve included detailed examples, segregation tips and information about our eco-friendly recycling and disposal methods.

Waste Segregation Tips:

  • Circle Icon
Organise before you load: Before filling your skip bin, group similar waste items together—this makes the disposal process smoother and helps you avoid extra charges for mixing prohibited materials. Sorting out your waste also allows you to maximise the space of your bin size.
  • Circle Icon
Use separate bins: For projects with multiple types of waste (like green waste, construction debris and general household items), consider hiring different bins as there may be potential cost savings involved.
  • Circle Icon
Label and sort: For commercial or industrial use that uses multiple skip bins, we suggest labelling different areas of your worksite for specific waste types so that workers can easily dispose of materials into the appropriate bins.

While segregating specific waste types is important, we encourage being creative with the rubbish you throw out in your bins. Most waste types can be mixed together as long as they’re not indicated in the prohibited list.

Environmental Impact & Responsible Disposal

At Matt’s Skip Bins, we take pride in our commitment to the environment. We ensure that the waste collected from your skip bins is handled responsibly.
Here’s how:

  • 1
Recycling: We sort waste to recycle as much as possible, minimising the amount sent to landfills. Items such as metals, green waste and clean concrete are redirected for recycling.
  • 2
Proper Disposal: Waste that cannot be recycled is disposed of in an environmentally friendly way, adhering to strict local and national regulations. We work with accredited waste disposal facilities to ensure this.
  • 3
Reducing Landfill Impact: By helping you sort waste efficiently and providing dedicated bins for specific materials, we reduce the overall landfill burden.
