Have you recently hired a skip bin, or are you planning on hiring one? It doesn’t matter if you’re a business or a resident looking to hire – the placement of your bin is key to an efficient hire experience. The good news is that there are many possible options when it comes to the placement of your skip bin.
We’ve created a list below to help make choosing a location for your skip bin easy! See what skip bin placements you are eligible for by looking at the list below.
Place on your driveway
If you are looking for quick and easy access to a bin, placing your skip on the driveway may be the best spot for your project. Assuming you don’t mind the driveway being occupied by a bin, you can have a clear path from the bin to the building.
We recommend clearing your cars out of the way before the bin is delivered, so no one is blocked in.
Place on the grass
When the driveway isn’t an option, but you still want your bin in a central location to the home, placing your bin on the grass may be the next best thing. For most convenience, you can set it close to the building’s entrance. Don’t forget to put planks underneath to preserve the grass quality.
This option is also ideal if you have a green waste skip bin that needs to be near the source of the waste.
Place inside where you can
If you’re cleaning up something inside, try placing the bin inside. Sometimes when there is enough height allowance, we can put the skip inside a garage or shed.
This option is ideal for those in multi-level buildings or on large properties like hotels or shopping centres when you don’t want to go too far.
Try putting it near the entrance to the area, so you don’t have to travel too far with the waste.
Place behind a gated area
For hires in communal areas or on shared properties, try placing your skip bin in a gated area. This way, the gate can block off and obstruct any uninvited visitors wanting to use your bin hire or go through your waste.
It is always a good tip to check how wide the gate entrance is to ensure our trucks fit. We ask that there be between 2.8 and 3 metres of space in width.
Place under a carport
Is there wet weather in the upcoming forecast? Depending on the height and size of your carport, we may be able to fit your skip hire under a carport or veranda to stay dry from the rain. Not only does this keep the bin from the wet weather, but it allows you to use your bin while staying dry.
For tall carports, we ask that there is an allowance of 5m in height so our arms can extend.
Place on the street or a nature strip
Don’t have the room on your property for a skip? You may need to go outside of the boundary onto council land. Most of our skip bin sizes will fit on a nature strip or to the side of the road, depending on how wide the road is.
It is recommended to check with your council to see if a permit is needed for this before hiring.
